Deep Conditioning Natural Hair – How Often?

Natural hair is thirsty! Because of the coils in natural hair it’s challenging for the scalp’s natural oils to work their way down the hair shaft, hence the reason it tends to feel dry sometimes.

It is therefore necessary to condition frequently. Along with your monthly shampoo (preferably with a sulfate-free shampoo) every other week, rinse hair with warm water and apply a conditioner and oil mixture. Apply from roots to end avoiding scalp, and allow it to sit for 20 minutes or more. Rinse and style.

In another two weeks (which would be your regular monthly shampoo), repeat the process before your regular shampoo. Conditioning the hair before shampooing allows it to retain more moisture. Being consistent with hair conditioning regiment, along with avoiding constant heat styling, will help keep your hair at its healthiest!
