Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Olive Oil on Natural Hair

Shea butter, olive oil and coconut oil, are all great products that promote moisturized and healthy hair.

The first, shea butter, is actually not a conditioner and should not be used by itself. What it actually does is that it seals in the hair’s moisture. It should therefore be used on wet hair that has conditioner and/or oil already in it. When used by itself, however, it can cause hair to become hard and brittle and even break off.

Coconut and olive oils, on the other hand, do moisturize the hair and have many other benefits. They both promote healthier scalp via antioxidants, they naturally condition the hair leaving it soft and shiny and last but not least, they fight off bacteria and fungi.

There are numerous other benefits to these oils and many other natural oils. The key, however, is to remember that these are not miracle potions you can use just once and reap the benefits. It is important to incorporate a consistent hair care routine utilizing these oils into your schedule. Healthy shiny hair is yours for the taking, but you must do your part.
