We are evaluated in seconds solely based on what we are wearing. In seconds unknown persons make a judgment on your social status, job occupation, and intelligence based on clothing. That is why it is important to develop your own sense of style.
True personal style has little to do with what is considered fashionable; the most important aspect of developing your own style is remaining true to yourself. If it does not feel comfortable, do not do it. Wear the pieces that work for you, and skip everything that does not. Have more of those moments when people look at you and say, “That is sooo you!” Keep in mind, it is not about the clothes you wear – it is about how you wear them.
Feeling comfortable with your look is extremely important. Make sure you are wearing the correct size, buy size that fits, and know that you are a different size in almost every label. The number is not important; it is just a starting point.
We all have one body part that we love – accentuate, accentuate, accentuate! If there is something you do not like about yourself (that you can fix), fix it or stop complaining.
You should always feel comfortable with what you are wearing, stick to items that suit your personality and style. Do not try and make too much of an effort to look fashionable, because that is when you end up looking crazy. Your look should match your personality, age, body type, and facial features.
It is easy to fall victim to fashion. We have all done it, but maintain balance. You do not have to wear all the trendy stuff all at once. I am not implying that you should duck trends; by all means buy fashionable pieces. Just keep a sensible balance of basic and fashionable clothes in your wardrobe. A fashion victim is someone who follows all the latest fashion trends even when it does not complement their body shape, looks, or even age. Do not be that woman! People can tell when you are trying too hard.
Looking your best does require a certain amount of effort; it is not as simple as walking into a store looking at a mannequin and saying, “Give me that in a size 6.” Your clothes have to fit, and ultimately suit your style, image and personality. Confidence in yourself is, and always will be, the hottest trend of any year.
