You are expecting guests these holidays and still preparing to host them but there’s one thing you still haven’t figured out: What do you use the space under your steps for? Simply because we think it’s overrated to turn the space under your steps into a store room, we have come up with five tips and tricks on how to utilize that space:
-
Wine Cellar / Bar: Are you a wine collector? You could change this space into your own perfect wine storage area especially with Christmas around the corner. You could alternatively make it a mini – bar area to entertain guests and show off your cocktail making skills.
- Washroom: It is a neat addition to your home, as not only does it add value to it, but is also convenient for when you have guests over. No longer do your guests have to pass through your room to access the toilet.
- Drawers: You can transform the space with sliding drawers. It could be an extra wardrobe where you store clothes for special functions or even other items in a more organized manner. This will effectively utilize the space instead of having an open space where you dump things.
- Play Area: You can create shelves to store toys and spruce the place a little to be the special indoor play area for your children and young guests. Think of all the adventures they could have in there. Even if you don’t have kids, you could convert the space to your very own wo(man)-cave. It could as well be a game area for chess or monopoly.
- Home Office/ Study: Yes, it can serve as a home office or study, with the right lighting, shelves and seating. This could be your spot for the days you have to work from home. It could also be a good spot for the kids to study and do homework – your very own home library.
