How Long Should New Roots be Left Before Next Retouch?

Have you ever wondered how long you should allow your new growth to ‘breathe’ before touching it up with a relaxer? Are you one of those people who prefer to grow out their hair for a while before retouching it but don’t know whether it is healthy for the hair or not?

I recommend waiting a minimum of 10-12 weeks before your next retouch. And notice I stated a minimum. If you can hold out longer by all means do so. Touching up too often causes overlapping, meaning relaxing hair that has been previously relaxed, which results in loss of elasticity in hair and even worst, breakage. You don’t want that for your fine tresses.
