As Christmas draws closer, you think about all the food that needs to be cooked, cabinets that need to be organized and the guests that are to arrive. It is safe to say that most of your time will be spent in the kitchen preparing for the feast.
To ensure that you and your guests have a great time, here are five things to check to ensure your kitchen will be fully prepared for the festive season:
- Hide unnecessary clutter – There may be certain items taking up counter space. You don’t want to have any type of clutter on display. Pack these items if they are important, otherwise, donate or toss to free up more space.
- Serve ware on the ready – It’s time for the holiday season items: the tableware, the festive dishes and the fancy pots and pans. Make sure your knives are sharpened to avoid any mishap when hacking into your baked chicken. Take into account any supplies you are missing and purchase them before Christmas day. Make a checklist of your utensils, cookware, serve ware, oils, canned products and any other kitchen necessities.
- Stock kitchen accordingly – Take into account your guests’ food habits. Do they have any food allergies? Are they vegetarian? With this information prepare accordingly and make sure there are plenty of drink and food options available for everyone.
- Place similar items together – Do not mix items that do not belong. Spices and flavors should be kept together and vegetables should be put next to each other. For instance, in the fridge – liquids should be kept separately and not mixed with onions.
- Customize cabinet space – Cabinets can always be personalized to suit your style. This can be achieved by using various decorative sheets. For example, your shelf space can be used to store cups, plates, pots and pans plus other cutlery pieces.
