The TEDxAccra maiden edition of the monthly event, “After The Talk Discussions” on June 30, 2015, was arguably one of the most stimulating discussions on the topic “Innovation In Business.” July’s headliner, “Africa and Media,” will be led and discussed by Playwright, Radio Host and Political Commentator Esther Armah, and Director of News Programming at Citi FM, Bernadino Koku Alve, on the 28th at Villa Monticello.
What is news? Who defines it? And where is Africa’s place in it? The issue of sensationalism, particularly where African-related news is in question, persists today in an advanced digital age where stories can be created and narrated easily from any angle and by anyone. This month’s discourse, with a seasoned line up of industry experts on the panel, will dissect the core issues and way forward.
Last month’s, on “Innovation In Business,” highlighted key concerns worth addressing.
Daniel Antwi a panelist and CEO of GETMEFUND asserted: “We need to innovate because it gives us a competitive edge.”
Politician, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, also a panelist, stressed the importance of taking products to the global stage and developing new process models that easily delivered products to consumers: “Stop thinking about things that excite you,” he said, and added that it was crucial for innovators to think about what consumers wanted instead. On innovating whilst seeking funding, he advised: “Find creative ways of connecting with investors. Find common interest hubs.”
This month’s discourse expects a crowd of extraordinary creators, innovative thinkers, and leaders to share ideas on how to take Africa’s image to the next level.
