Jeera Rice – How to Make This Delicious And Healthy Recipe

There are several ways to make rice flavorful and delicious. One very simple yet tasty recipe is jeera rice, an Indian and Pakistani dish that uses just four ingredients: rice, vegetable oil, salt and most importantly cumin seeds. Why is this healthy? 

Cumin seeds are high in antioxidants, substances that have the ability to protect your body’s cells from free radicals which may cause heart disease, cancer and other diseases. Cumin seeds are also believed to promote digestion.  

Now, how to make jeera rice. 

Ingredients:

2 tblspoons Canola or sunflower oil

1 cup Rice

1 tspoon Cumin seeds

Salt 

½ Onions (optional) 

Preparation: 
  • Cut onions into small pieces.
  • Wash rice and put aside.
  • Heat oil under medium heat in pot. 
  • Add onions and cumin seeds. Allow seeds to brown.
  • Add rice to the pot and stir.
  • After 5 minutes, add water and salt to taste.
  • Allow to cook for 20 minutes or until rice is done and then serve.
