French artist Edgar Degas once said, “Painting is easy when you don’t know how, but very difficult when you do.” Because it requires critical thinking to create a narrative that makes sense, one similar to the works showcased at the third edition of Standing Out, an annual all-women exhibition hosted by The Wheatbaker and curated by SMO Contemporary Art.
Dubbed UNMASKED, the event happened on March 10, 2018 and featured works by seven Nigeria-based avant-garde female artists whose task was to interpret the power of women and mental health in commemoration of International Women’s Day.
The exhibition will run until May 4, 2018 at The Wheatbaker, 4 Lawrence Rd, Ikoyi, Lagos.
