Father’s Day – Quotes By Favorite Men

It’s an honor to have a father. One you know you can count on at any point in your life. One you can call when your car breaks down on the highway and you know he will make every effort to come and help you. He might have difficulty verbally expressing his love for you, but you know that he’ll display it in his actions. Or, he’ll express his love for you verbally and in action. Thank heavens for such fathers!

In honor of fathers this year, we decided to publish quotes by three of our favorite men: Ben Okri, Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier.

Ben Okri, Nigerian poet and novelist once said:

“One of the greatest gifts my father gave me – unintentionally – was witnessing the courage with which he bore adversity. We had a bit of a rollercoaster life with some really challenging financial periods. He was always unshaken, completely tranquil, the same ebullient, laughing, jovial man.”

Bill Cosby, American actor, comedian, author, educator, television producer and activist once said:

“Nothing I’ve ever done has given me more joys and rewards than being a father to my children.”

Sidney Poitier, Bahamian-American actor, film director, author and diplomat once said:

“I decided in my life that I would do nothing that did not reflect positively on my father’s life”
