red smoothie in a glass

This nutrient-packed smoothie not only tastes delicious, but is also a great, simple way to boost your immune system and improve overall health. With just four ingredients, you’ll be on your way to starting off your day strong!

The health benefits

Grapes are especially high in Vitamins C and K. One cup contains 27% of recommended daily intake of vitamin C and 28% of vitamin K. They also produce antioxidants that help the cardiovascular system.

What does watermelon do for you? It is known to be the fruit that contains the most lycopene, a plant nutrient that possesses antioxidant properties. And antioxidants have been linked to prevention of cell damage and better heart health. One medium slice of watermelon is believed to provide at least 11% of the Vitamin A your body needs daily – this is wonderful news especially for those concerned with eye health.

Don’t underestimate the potency of strawberries due to their size. They contain very high levels of antioxidants and are packed with vitamins and properties that increase good cholesterol. About eight strawberries provide more vitamin C than one orange.

They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away and that couldn’t be far from the truth. Besides the fact that they’re nutritious, apples have been credited with hearth, lung and bone health. They are also a great immune booster and their fiber content also help improve gut health.

Red Smoothie Recipe

What you need:

8 Strawberries
1 Red apple (medium)
1 Cup red grapes (seedless)
3 Slices of watermelon (medium)
Ice (optional)
Blender

Preparation:

If your strawberries still have their calyx attached, cut them all off. Once this is done, thoroughly wash them with the red apple and grapes in clean water and place in a clean bowl.

Slice off the fleshy part of the watermelon including the seed and add to the other fruits.

Place all of your ingredients in a blender and run until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add a small quantity of water or ice.

Pour it into a bottle and consume throughout your day.
