Spoken word artist Ama Asantewa Diaka, popularly known as Poetra Asantewa, has finally released her first official work entitled “Motherfuckitude: The Naked Ones.” The EP, produced by musician/producer is a smooth blend of contemporary poetry, jazz and neo-soul.
Anyone who has experienced her performance will admit that Poetra Asantewa not only has a fine way with words, but also does an incredible job of piercing listeners’ thoughts with them. The six-track EP comprises five spoken word pieces and one song, apturing themes of feminism, depression and emotional imbalance. “ It is a work of art that expresses overriding my limitations, insecurities, jealousies and ineptitude, to create well,” she admits and adds, “It is the result of coming from a place of struggle and emotional imbalance, to weaving great art from a tattered experience.”
