There comes a time when the need for an escape, within your own living space, is inevitable. Whether it is spending alone time in the quiet night drinking freshly brewed tea or simply listening to yourself breathe without distractions, the need to stimulate positivity can’t be ignored. And you can control that.
What’s in your surrounding?
Our surroundings can brighten or darken our mood, for sure. We can actively play a part in it by becoming conscious of what we do or don’t place in there. One of our favorites is indoor plants, which not only have the ability to boost your mood but also clean the air from harmful toxins. From helping to alleviate stress and anxiety to stimulating energy, plants such as orchid, lavendar, aloe vera, peace lily and snake plant can contribute to an improved health. Create space for them in your living room, bedroom, kitchen or bathroom and place them in areas they can receive a bit of lighting, which is all most of them need to thrive.
Yoga Teacher & Wellbeing Coach, Babs, also recommends objects such as crystals, statues or figurines of spiritual figures, photos of loved ones, candles, mirrors, incense and oils. “Anything from nature tends to bring good energy, not just pretty crystals but also regular stones, twigs and shells can improve the mood of a space,” she explains.
“A vision board is also a great item for improving the energy of your space and helping to attract more of what you want in life. As well as a vision board, you can also write out affirmations, powerful quotes and reminders to yourself and leave them around your space.”
What else is there?
Also, think about things you love and bring them into your space. For example, if you’re passionate about art or paintings, get a couple to strategically position where you can easily see them when sitting or passing. The sight of books can even evoke positive emotions in some people. If you fall into this category, consider creating a small bookshelf or find a way to arrange about two to three books on a table.
To stimulate positivity in your home should not necessarily equate new spend. You can still achieve this without spending money to buy anything new. Look around for the elements mentioned above, some may be hidden in your home. Bring them out into the open space and enjoy some positive energy.
