obaasema wellness summit flyer

Our wellness summit kicks off on June 6th, 2021 with a focus on a topic you wouldn’t want to miss learning about: Mindfulness. We’re delving into this with a very practical approach, which is why it was important for us to bring in the right experts: Dr. Ibilola Awosan, a NYC licensed and experienced Therapist and Selloane Nkhela, an active Yoga Instructor and Singer. They’ll be showing us ways in which we can activate mindfulness in our lives. RSVP here.

Our guests will be sharing strategies to manage:

  • Mental, emotional and physical wellness, with a focus on health and happiness.
  • Social and environmental wellness, with a focus on relationships and work.

As part of our efforts to create an experience-sharing community for African women, there will be a live breathing exercise and meditation demonstration as well as self-care tips for holistic living.

Join us for this free wellness experience as we recharge for the next half of the year with the right mental health.

The summit starts at 7pm (Lagos Time / GMT+1) and will take place on Zoom. While it’s free, RSVP is a must to secure seat as space is limited. Visit event page to register.

Selloane Nkhela, Yoga Instructor and Singer

Selloane is a dynamic singer who has combined her roots and her experiences through her music. She is currently the singer for the Michael Jackson: One show by Cirque du Soleil. Born in South Africa, she moved to the United States to be a part of the musical Lion King in Los Angeles.

Being a performer became quite stressful and hectic especially after she moved to New York City to be on Broadway. She decided to take her life and health into her own hands by going to a yoga class during her breaks. “Yoga changed my life,” she admits. “I became more present and anxiety didn’t control my life any longer.” Nkhela is now a yoga instructor and teaches vinyasa flow twice a week in Las Vegas, Nevada. She is also a wife and mother of two. Her YouTube channel is a platform she uses to give back to the community by offering free yoga classes. She recently re-released a new single called ‘Consuming Fire’ and this is available on all music digital platforms.
