Sleep should be an important part of your lifestyle because it impacts your body in several ways. For women, especially,  lack of adequate sleep can affect something as basic as your menstrual cycle. We’ve put together three tips to help you sleep well to achieve the balance your body deserves.

Make time to relax

This is hard to preach and practice but is so worth it once you have figured it out. Meditation, painting, exercising, reading are all effective ways to relax. Identify a hobby or activity that calms you and adopt it as part of your routine.

Cut back on alcohol or caffeine

Both tend to increase cortisol, the stress hormone, in your body. Instead, try relaxing teas such as chamomile or peppermint.

Prioritize healthy sleep

Figure out how many hours of rest you need to feel refreshed. The recommended number is between 7-9 hours. Create a schedule and stick to it. This can help improve your quality of sleep. Identify the things that hinder your ability to rest and eliminate them from your routine. For example,  if watching a screen before bed time causes you to stay awake longer, cut it out of your activities at night.
